About Our Hall

Our Story Through the Years
Before 1951 — A Village Community
Long before the Village Hall opened its doors, Wetley Rocks was already a thriving rural community. Historic photographs and records show generations of local people coming together for village events, celebrations and activities — a tradition our hall would eventually become part of.
1951 — The Story Begins
The earliest official record we’ve found for Wetley Rocks Village Hall is a conveyance dated 29 December 1951. This marks the beginning of the hall’s documented history and the first chapter in creating a dedicated space for the local community.
1954 — The Village Hall Opens
In August 1954, Wetley Rocks Village Hall opened its doors. The occasion was reported in the Staffordshire Weekly Sentinel on 20 August 1954, under the heading “Village Hall Opened – Opening of Wetley Rocks Village Hall.”
Although we haven’t yet uncovered all the details of that special day, it marked the beginning of more than seven decades of community life within these walls.
1963 — Official Charity Registration
On 30 July 1963, Wetley Rocks Village Hall was formally registered as a charity, with its area of benefit recorded simply as “Wetley Rocks and vicinity.”
Its purpose was, and remains, to provide a space and facilities for the benefit of our local community.
Through the Decades — Generations of Memories
Over the years, countless people have passed through the doors of Wetley Rocks Village Hall.
From meetings, groups and village events to children's activities, celebrations and get-togethers, the hall has provided a place for generations of local people to meet, make memories and be part of their community.
We know there are many more stories from these years still waiting to be rediscovered.
2024 — 70 Years of Wetley Rocks Village Hall
Seventy years after its opening was reported in 1954, the hall reached an incredible milestone — 70 years at the heart of Wetley Rocks.
The building may have changed over those years, and village life with it, but the reason for having a village hall remains remarkably similar: to give our community somewhere to come together.
2026 — A New Chapter
Today, we're working to breathe new life into Wetley Rocks Village Hall.
Our aim is to make the most of this wonderful community asset — welcoming new groups and activities, improving the facilities, hosting more events and creating a hall that is busy, useful and welcoming to everyone.
We're incredibly proud of its past, but we're just as excited about its future.
1954 → 2026
72 years of community, memories and bringing Wetley Rocks together.
